Egypt: Christianity in Danger of Extinction "It has been the worst persecution in 700 years against the oldest, largest remaining Christian minority in the Middle East" (ReligionToday.com).
Nigeria: Twelve thousand killed in anti-Christian violence The US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) has reported that 12,000 people have been killed in attacks claimed by the Islamic extremist group Boko Haram in the largely anti-Christian violence that has swept across northern Nigeria (Persecution.org).
Sudan: Christians Face Increased Hostility "Despite a promise by the Sudanese government to grant its minority Christian population religious freedom, church leaders there said they are beset by increased restrictions and hostility in the wake of the South Sudan's independence." (RNS).
The US State Department issues the Trafficking in Persons Report 2013, listing China and Russia among those countries that failed to meet even minimum standards for fighting human trafficking. Thanks to Religion Today Headlines for suggesting this news item.
